5 Tech Must-Haves For Seniors

Often when older folks hear the word “tech” they get nervous and assume that it’s something for younger generations. However, just because you’ve reached retirement age doesn’t mean you can’t still reap the benefits of helpful gadgets! There are some tech must-haves that can make seniors’ lives so much easier. Here are some of the best ones you should consider buying as soon as possible.

A Smartphone

If you don’t have a smartphone yet, then it’s time to consider getting one. They do more than just make calls and send messages—they do far more than just take pictures too. A smartphone can totally change your life, and make things much easier. From being able to video chat anyone in the world for free, to being able to locate yourself on a map with GPS, it can be extremely useful for modern life.

Not only that, but it’s also a great source of entertainment. There are plenty of games and streaming apps that make it easy to stay entertained on the go. Whether you’re sitting in the lobby of the doctor’s office or standing in line at the grocery store, your smartphone can be a wonderful way to pass the time.

A Front Door Camera

In today’s modern world, you can never be too sure about who is knocking on the door.  Rather than having to walk all the way to look for your peep hole, a front door camera makes it possible to see who’s at the door without having to get up. It’s also a great way to prevent burglaries. People are much less likely to break into your home if they see that it’s protected with a security camera.

Robot Vacuum

It can get more and more difficult to keep up with house cleaning as you become less mobile.  Passing the vacuum around your house every day may start to become a chore over a certain age. A robot vacuum is a great way to keep up with daily cleaning without having to potentially injure yourself in the process.

Alexa

If you thought this Amazon bluetooth speaker was just for playing music, think again. Not only can it tell you the weather, it can spout off just about any fact you ask it and set a kitchen timer for you, but it can even remember your grocery list for you. Voice command devices like Alexa are great for seniors who are less capable of getting around and need a little assistance with day-to-day tasks.

Key Finder

Even though we may not like to admit it, we often get more forgetful in our older age. It’s not uncommon to lose things like our keys, or wallet. A key finder like a Tile is a great way to help you find important items that you may have lost. Simply attach them to the TIle, and you can see items locations from an application on your phone. These are  just a few tech must-haves for you to consider. Whether you have one or all, they can make a huge difference in your quality of life!
